Love is... Portraiture.

This is a panoramic view of my Studio today...

Within this vista are first two portraits in a range I titled 'Love is...' Indicative of undertones in my themed work EROS and ROSE. The sitters are being selected by their support and/or involvement in the Arts. Jen and Jodie (portraits above) have come into my studio, opened their hearts and coined one word that encompasses what Love is... from their perspective. With this insight, these paintings express much more than the image or likeness of the subject.

Blowing in the Wind...

Second Prize in the Local Hepburn Shire Swiss Italian Festa Lanscape Art Prize.
The criteria is that all submissions are of the local area, no more that 25kms from the town centre.
Here's me, looking pretty happy, wine in hand... Local of course!
This is a better quality picture of my work.
This picture is to show how I have painted the sides and that the blocks are of varying depth.
All the sides are painted, some of the fronts are photo's, one is a photo montage... pick it.
It is these photo's of our Balloon Flights that were the source of my inspiration and they are locations of and around Daylesford, both Jubilee and the main lake, Bullarto, Smeaton, Mt.Franklin, Blampied, Dean and I had one of Creswick but it got lost. No matter, there will be plenty more to come.

These works are for sale and I would be happy with $800 for the whole set.
Support Local Arts, so we can produce more...!

UNDERTONES

My Updated Artist Statement for the Daylesford Art Show Entry.... Detail pictured above.

Like many Daylesford artists, I originated from Melbourne. I love living in Daylesford, the visual aesthetics and geography of the area appeal to my artistic senses. The community overall, has an environmental consciousness, this was part of my initial attraction when I chose to live here and raise my child, 8 years ago.

In my past bohemian, St. Kilda experience, the professional skills that I gained in various commercial art industries,  have now, more recently been coupled with a fine arts degree, meaning that I submit a style evolved from both. Instead of selling a product, I am selling a concept of understanding and healing as it represents the  subtle ‘undertones’ of our existence. The maintaining of sincerity in one’s work has always been paramount for me.

My intrigue with people, first began when I was very young, along with the study of human form, to where I am now, investigating interactions between people, the intimate aspects of relationships and representing them symbolically. My recent works are titled ‘EROS and ROSE’ and explore the feminine and masculine aspects relative to our patterns of attraction. I have formulated a core belief. Opposites seek balance through dynamic interplay, which is a measure of life and that the truth is always consistent.

The qualifying factor of being an artist, I believe, is beyond the ability to draw, paint and sculpt. Art helps people to see things differently or even confront their demons. This is a proven healing tactic, when we are moved out of our thinking rut, ‘the magic’ can begin.

Artist Statement.

"Through my Art, I explore the essence of truth and consistency, reminding people, and myself, to work with Nature and Love."

I have chosen symbolic depictions of the Male and Female.
The interplay of these two dynamic opposites represents the energy of life itself. The seeking of balance towards an ultimate goal of harmony, externally or internally and also potentially...
Working towards Enlightenment.
Most Art has a desire to make us question. In the case of my EROS and ROSE series, it is our psychological interactions, driven by physiological desires that are under scrutiny.

Kristeena Saville

Exposure at Red Star.

Here I am outside the Red Star Cafe in Hepburn Springs Victoria for my feature month. I did this piece especially as I felt the whole window area needed to be taken into account. I had this crappy old concertina canvas hanging about, cut the top of and it fit perfect...
In my world this means that it is meant to be.
Photo: Petrus Spronk, the organiser of this opportunity for local artists.
Here is the work back at home in my studio.
What you can't see behind the floating front piece is the same sex symbolism, intended to highlight the importance of intimate relations that do not usually intend to propagate. The floating piece on the other hand is 'the child', relevant to my own, yet to explore but still protected and nurtured by the parent.

'Forbidden Fruit'...

A better late posted than never realised blog... Is this the moment that I promise to myself, I will feed the computer my heart and soul in written word and pictures for all the scrutinise? Of course, this is the quest of all artists across many genres.
Criticism is at least a passionate response and in this case has provoked one of equality and poetically damning piece of short literature to the critics. Justice.

Somewhere in there is a letter from the Landlord/Management in their defence... They just sound like fools. Funny about that!

What Controversy?
How many ways we see the female anatomy and it is never offensive. Is it the protruding male anatomy that is offensive? Certainly not in my friends Papua New Guinean Art collection, it is right out there as a symbol of masculinity and he gloats that no one bats an eyelid. Ah Ha, I say... Because there is an innocence in it's depiction, where as mine is far from innocent but the innocent cannot see it... I work hard on this 'not in your face depiction'.

I really like this article but I am not sure that the writer has noticed that my pear shaped female forms also double up as being phallic. Hence the romantic inclinations, in a point of union, two become one.

Not 'TOO EROTIC' for the front page!

This blog is a bit delayed but the article still stands true... The picture on the front page is in my studio and not the 'Eros and Rose' shop in question, I wanted the photographer to go there because I believe the background sums it up at a glance. I am really grinning inside because he thought my work was so beautiful and I was about to expose the dictatorship of my landlord and management.
My intention was never to insult but merely highlight the foundation of romantic notions.

Erotic Art Defined

This is the latest advertising material. I aim at offering food for thought on the matter of relationships   that could be defined as 'Erotic by Nature.'
