Burning Passion

Igniting the philosophy behind 'EROS and ROSE'. The point of light that burns within and either spends or guides us depending on our interior motives and/or which stage of evolution we may be experiencing right now.

EROS and ROSE Shop in Daylesford.

With help, we transformed this space in no time. Simon made the fittings, Gary and I did the painting, I stocked the shop and even Violet is feeding the 'Love Vibe'.
The bottom picture is how it is today, with my up cycled, hand painted fairy light sign, a card rack from the op shop and a great bucket stand for the flowers that I got at the second hand market. My first job was to fill the card rack and some second hand frames with more original work. Now, the website!

Shape of things...

The first one is the signature piece... The Candle mold. Designed to make pure bees wax candles from.

The middle one is cheeky... Designed to fit well into ones hand whilst massaging a loved one with pure natural  ingredients.

Far right is the soap mold... I want to make pure natural soap and I'm leaning towards goats milk as a base.

Birth of 'EROS and ROSE'.

I have done so much since that last blog, gone through a series of brand identities and settled on, with much deliberation, the name of 'EROS and ROSE'. The name was delivered by a psychic friend and fellow artist. The style is inspired by the Romantics and Arts and Crafts movement. The flourishes are symbolic of genitalia that the two opposing opposites are represented with and both names sit on top of each other so as to highlight their complete equality.

Breaking the Mold!

Some of my favourite Ceramic sculptures. If my 'Master Plan' works out, you will be seeing more variations on these.

EROS & ROSE

An example of the genre of my work. Eros & Rose are depicted as two equally balanced opposite counter parts of the masculine and feminine working towards becoming one... Enlightenment.
There will be much more of 'EROS & ROSE' to come.

Sculpture Garden

Some of my old sculptures and some of my new. I have gone from literal depictions to symbolic representation. It seemed that, in general, the popularity of my sculptures relied on the physical attractiveness of the models. In my later work, I have negated all notions of pre-conceived beauty.

Portraits

Here are two portrait subjects that were keen to sit in my studio in Daylesford. I love doing portraits but it can be hard to pin me down... If your keen to pose then Call Me!

Portrait painting 'Pop Art' style.

Here are two portraits I painted of a husband and wife, I painted hers a five years ago because I found her  style inspiring, glamorous but simple. That large asymmetrical signature smile of Marys was a challenge between character and flattery... Success.
Years later, they commissioned the husband portrait of Justin from his wedding photo, with a sombre and gangster like pose. A trained eye would probably see the difference between an image in the mind painted with photographic reference against one straight off a photo.
The style here is 'Pop Art', which refers to creating an image, that of a sellable genre and thus creating an aesthetic work of Art  capable of elevating a person into a larger than life movie star genre and when successful, still capture the uniqueness of character in the individual. COMMISSIONS WELCOME!

Up and coming exhibition...

Posable Invite design and the title of my new body of work, which is some as previously seen and some new. There are many ways I can go about getting my work out there in a context where it will be understood/appreciated. Any suggestions?
